| Will we be able to mod Fallout 3 ? |
|
A lot of people have been emailing us with this question, as we are the leading site in Fallout 3 mods. There is no quick answer to this question, although 1 obvious thing we can answer is .. there will NOT be an editor released with the launch of the PC version of Fallout 3. The following is a quote from the developers : "We don't have MOD support at launch, we want to but we have our hands so full with getting the game out and getting tools out there that work well for people and with the game is a pretty big undertaking," But does this mean there will not be any mods ? Of course not .. many mods for Oblivion were created without using the construction kit at all. Interface mods are the most obvious, but also replacing / adding new models and textures to the game was something that was done without using the editor, but merely using the 'Archiveinvalidation.txt' to replace files from the game. Will we know for sure whether this is all possible in Fallout 3 as it was in Oblivion, before the game is actually released ? Not 100%, but I'm quite confident that there will be a large community of people working together to create the necesarry tools to create at least some basic mods for F3. In the next few days we will be collecting tools, guides and other information that people will be able to use to make mods. After having seen the dull map in the XBOX 360 version of the game, I think this will be the first thing to be replaced by a better version... Keep an eye on this site for the tools of the modding trade !
